Da Vinci The Genius Exhibition 令我嘆為觀止

Science Center 迎進 Da Vinci The Genius exhibition to Singapore and we are the first country in the region to bring in the exhibition directly from Italy. Da Vinci was a renowned renaissance artist, philosopher and scientist etc.. You name it, he was it. Most famous painting should be Mona Lisa and about 25% of the exhibition is on it. used a technique to measure the light reflection from the portrait and they have found that when the portrait was painted 500 years ago, Mona Lisa had six fingers on her left hand. Also of cos there is The Last Supper which is made more famous by the movie The Da Vinci Code. The entrance fee is $15 and it took me 2 hours to finish it. After the exhibition, as usual, I will buy 紀念品﹗呵呵﹗

兩天快樂 at Chalet

It has been a long time I went for a chalet. My family organized a get together at NTUC downtown east chalet. It has changed quite a bit since I last visited there. There is a big mall with many eateries. We BBQ on the first day but 天不作美﹗It rained! But 不幸中的大幸 is the rain becomes much smaller in the evening. So we did managed to have our BBQ.


The second day I did not really did anything. Morning we have our breakfast at the food court. Then, afternoon we had our lunch at the mall and dinner we had some food at Changi Village. The rest of the time is idling in the chalet. Sound bored but I have a good time during these 2 days of leaves! It is an ultimate rest for me.

迷上 Facebook

All along I do not like the idea of facebook as I feel it is a bit invasion of privacy as your friends know who you know. That is why I sort of 抗拒。But after many of my friends, colleagues and relatives keep talking to me with facebook language, I decided to create an account to see what they have been up to. Now I have been using facebook to post messages to my friends. Though it is fun, I simply use it to update myself on my friends just like a blog.

豐富多彩的 Singapore Science Center

It has been a while since I last visited Science Center. I got a corporate pass and bring my family there for a walk. When I step in, then I realized it is so big. It is separated into many themes and have many wonderful exhibition! Throughout this trip, I re-learn many forgotten science facts and knowledge! 簡直是大開眼界﹗There is a section on nano-nanotechnology which is my field of work. The write up is 深入淺出﹐very good for layman! There is even an updated facts on H1N1! I really enjoy very much. But in order to slowly enjoy all exhibitions, I guess you need to plan at least 1 whole day there.

Blood: The Last Vampire B級娛樂

Blood: The Last Vampire is the first Hollywood movie of Gianna Jun (全之賢) but she is let down by the movie. The 造型 suits her and story from anime supposed to be interesting. However, the B grade special effects, senseless killing and bad acting from some supporting casts make it very boring. The ending is to fight with powerful demons but end up it is so easily finished. I am really very let down by the overall package.

變相 PC Show

This year PC show surprising I gave it a miss. This is because this PC show has become one that I dun recognize any more. Last time, when mention PC show, come flooding into the mind is 便宜﹐賑品。This time round 便宜﹐賑品 also came to mind but just that it is not true. I asked a friend to check out Aigo portable media for me. The sales guy said usual price $499, now selling $399. Good deal right? Wrong! Cos it is usually selling $399 outside. So if you dun keep track of price like my friend, you will just go ahead and bought it. Another is Viewsonic LCD 24" monitor. It is $339. Sounds good? No! Cos 3 months ago it is selling $369 but throw in a HDMI able of $89. So if the deal is not better off than usual or 3 months ago, what for I squeeze my life off to be get cheated?

Living in 水深火熱之中

It is very hot lately. The temperature 直逼 36 度﹗I have been hiding in the aircon room for as far as I can remember. When I am outside, I sweat like as if I fell into water and and feel hot like I am in a ball of fire. So tell me if am I living in "水深火熱之中" everyday? 呵呵﹗

生活昇華 @ Orchard

I always wondering how is it living in Orchard road. So I finally 如願以償 to get a chance to live there. I stayed in a penthouse just behind Good Wood Park hotel. The house is nice but not very big. The view is good as it oversees the start of Orchard road. But other than that, it is not as exciting as I thought it would be. Yes, you are living in the heart of Singapore but it is not as exclusive as I would prefer to be.

終結 Terminator Salvation 吧﹗

Terminator Salvation is the fourth episode of the series Terminator. Just in case you forget what it talks about (which I really dun remember when I watched this show). I just simply brushed it as
Terminator 1: John Connor as baby
Terminator 2: John Connor as teens
Terminator 3: John Connor as twenties
Terminator 4: John Connor as thirties
Basically, this show throws out more plot that helps you to link to part 1. 故事沒什麼。特效還不錯。There is a surprise special "appearance" by "someone" right at the end of the show. I wonder if this show is necessary as I find they just trying to squeeze out something? But since it is out, in order to complete the story, you might want to check it out.

I am 冷血

Due to H1N1, the library also started 實行量體溫。The staff uses a non-contact infra red thermometer to measure my body temperature. He aims the device on my forehead. First reading: 34.2 degree Celsius!! He 嚇了一跳﹗Then, he measured again. Second reading: 34.1 degree Celsius. In the end, I was let into the library. My friend is 36.0 degree Celsius. So my friend's conclusion is I am 冷血﹗Haha!

Angels and Demons 精彩絕倫

Angels and Demons is a sort of sequel to The Da Vinci Code. But they have actually not much linkage. This time round Tom Hanks is asked to solve a series of murder mystery going on in Vatican City. He will run around trying to get clue to give the next clue. I like this kind of story. The story is written until very 精彩 as it include myths and facts which makes it sounds very convincing! I love the last part that involves Ewan Mcgregor. 非常感人﹗

Villa Bali 情調優美

I have recently found a nice place to chill out. It is Villa Bali located next to former River Valley High. This bar is quite classy and the setting is 有如身在 Bali. But certain cocktails they 調出來 are not that nice. This place 勝在 not crowded and good variety of wine selection. Pricing wise is also reasonable. Good for a group of people to hangout and chat.

Contact Lens 被水衝走

I always wear contact lens to swim and 每次都 ok. But who knows! Bad luck strikes. I think I swim too fast and the right side of my contact lens is being washed out from my eyes!! I end up having half clear and half blur vision to drive home! Any way, the good news is I found out my this pair of contact lens already 4 years old, so I guess 舊的不去﹐新的不來。呵呵﹗

母親節 at Imperial Herbal Restaurant

Today is 母親節 and like previously, we always will eat out to celebrate. This time round we went to Imperial Herbal Restaurant at VivoCity. This place is recommended by my brother. 顧名思義, the restaurant uses herbal for their dishes. They are also quite famous for their tea. Per cup is $15! Dun play play. Haha. But we choose another kind by bottle and ask them to 泡。It is cheaper this way. Haha. Both the food and tea are quite nice and suppose to be healthy. So I guess I will drop by soon. I hereby 祝天下媽媽們母親節快樂﹗

買 Swimming Trunk 記

I have decided to go back to my exercise routine recently. One of my favourite sports is swimming. But my old trunk 不可以見人 so time to get a new one. I went to World of Sports. The trunk looks ok but nothing fantastic. Haha. In the end, I bought I ok looking one. Then, I happened to pass by Royal Sporting House. Guess what? I saw a very nice pair! At that moment, I really wanted to buy it. But after thinking, I feel I should not waste money since I already gotten one pair already.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 前慢後快﹐但值得一看

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a spin off from X-Men 三步曲。 It is actually considered a prequel to X-Men movie. The show started off a bit slow. However, I think this is due to trying to build up the storyline and focus more on the characters development. Actual Wolverine does not get the best screen time. In fact, Agent Zero and Wade Wilson have a cooler entrance to the movie. But I think Gambit steals the show. Though he is out only at the later part, his screen time has to be the best with stylo display of power. The final part involves young mutants but only 2 display power which a bit boring. Overall, this prequel is rather nice. Got post credit scenes.

香江之旅 Cancelled

一個突如其來的瘟神 H1N1打亂 my travel plan to Hong Kong. I have already booked air ticket and hotel for the up coming weekend. But just when I thought my relax week is coming, 香港 there confirmed a case and quarantine the whole hotel! I am not worried about the swine flu but the quarantine that will give many inconveniences. So in the end, I have to cancel everything advice by friends around me. Luckily, I am able to get a full refund for both my air ticket and hotel.

有朋從 Kuala Lumpur 來

My internet friend, Lock, has finally set his foot in Singapore. He and his girlfriend came here to relax over the weekend. Lock 生平第一次 came here which I feel it is 不可思議﹗呵呵﹗I went to pick him up at his hotel and took him to Sentosa which I feel is a must visit place.

We had our lunch at the hawker center below Mount Faber. Then we proceed to Vivocity to take a tram into Sentosa. First stop is Underwater World.

Then, we went to another place to see the pink dolphin.

Finally we went up to top of the Merlion and have a bird's eye view of Sentosa.


After touring these few places in Sentosa, it is almost 8pm. Then we took the tram back to Vivocity and bring them to Geylang for dinner before sending them back to hotel. I hope they enjoy the trip to Sentosa.

M Hotel The Buffet 出現狀況

My girlfriend's family invited me for a dinner at M Hotel The Buffet which is 火鍋 style. They said it is very nice and popular. When we reached, we were showed to a place. After a while, 狀況一 happened. The soup does not boil after waiting for a while. Then the manager replaced the electric stove with a gas stove. 狀況二 happened. The gas stove out of gas! 呵呵﹗The manager looks apologetic and changed our table. Then he offered to give us a complementary free flow of drinks as compensation. Not bad considering per person for the drink costs $7! Overall, the food is nice but I feel variety is not a huge. Try the herbal prawn which is very chewy!

Lobster porridge 好吃﹗

My family and I went to visit my relative and there is a restaurant located near her house selling 龍蝦粥。She said it is very nice and insisted to give us a treat. So we ordered this 龍蝦粥 and indeed it is very nice. The 龍蝦 is rather meaty and the porridge tastes very sweet! This restaurant is visited by many artistes such as Zoe and Fann. It is the first unit of Bah Soon Pah road.

霉事一籮筐 A bad month

禍不單行﹗Lately, I am extremely tough luck. I got ticket within a span of two weeks. I hope those who gave me that, something nasty will happen to them. Ok, I am bad. 呵呵﹗Then, I returned the library books but the their record did not reflect. Wow! Until now still not yet settle. Sigh... Really need to 拜拜﹗

神槍手 Typical Hong Kong Police Story

At first, I do not really wanted to watch this show as I feel it is a 典型香港警匪片。But my friend wanted to catch it. 神槍手 talks about one ace sniper 黃曉明 taking revenge on another ace sniper 任賢齊。陳冠希 comparatively has a much lesser on screen time. However, he is an important character in the show. Overall, it is not as bad as I thought it would be. The show is quite exciting. But expect a 典型香港警匪片。

Knowing 虎頭蛇尾

Knowing maybe can be summarized as:"The New Noah's Ark". This show got a strong hint of Christianity. The setting of the mood of this movie is good. It is quite creepy at first. But towards the end, the plot is getting a bit absurd. The story is a bit innovative but I dun see the need for Nicholas Cage character. 值得一提 is the special effects. The 災難場面 are extremely well done! This show is watchable at least for the sake of the special effects. 呵呵﹗

生平第一台手機 Nokia 2110

最近大掃除 and found my 失散多年 mobile phone - Nokia 2110. It is the first mobile phone I bought in 1997! Time flies! This 古董 is 12 years old! At that time, no colour screen at all. It has very simple functions. Unlike now which is features packed!

Confessions of a Shopaholic 娛樂百分百

Confessions of a Shopaholic is a typical chick flick kind of movie. At first, I thought it will be some senseless show. But 出人意料, this show is rather nice. The plot is simple but the performance is rather 搞笑。The lead actress Isla Fisher is a cross between Nicole Kidman and Anna Faris. If you need to unwind, you may wish to get entertained by watching this show.

龍的傳人 Dragon 花車

I was walking towards Bio canteen and saw this dragon 花車 which is featured in this year 妝藝大遊行。This 花車 is an effort by NTU students and able to 噴火﹗Give them 掌聲鼓勵鼓勵﹗

重溫舊夢 Playing arcade

I love to go 打游戲機 since my college time. The game I played the most is Street Fighter. Until now I still like the game. Lately, my cousin suddenly 心血來潮 dragged me to arcade center. At first we just change $2 token and decided to leave once we used them up. But who knows we are hooked to a rambo shooting game and changed over $20 tokens just to complete the game! 簡直是 crazy! But 很久沒那麼 high 了﹗呵呵﹗

清明時節雨紛紛 Tomb Sweeping Day

The once a year 清明節 is here. My family and I will 環島追追追 on this day as we need to pay respect to our ancestors in three different places. The first will be at 萬里火化場。Then, we need to go to 斐龍山 followed by 林厝港墳地。It usually need a whole day to visit these places. I quite like 清明節 as it allows me to know about my ancestors. This also give my family a chance to be together for a whole day as a family outing.

新衣裳 Leather casing for my LG

I was lately looking high and low for my new LG phone a covering. It is a fight between a leather casing and a silicone casing. At first I prefer the silicone casing, but leather casing got a more 專業人士 feel. So in the end, I lead towards the leather casing. But I am still wondering if I made a correct choice. 不買都買了。So I have to appreciate it.

老掉牙 But 緊湊的 Race To Witch Mountain

I know of people actually thought Race To Witch Mountain talks about fantasy movie which involves magical power. Well, they are half right? It actually a story of a pair of alien siblings (which looks like human and have super power) crashed landed onto Earth. Their mission is to find an item that can save Earth from invaded by their own kind. The story is a bit 老掉牙 but luckily 勝在 the story flows. You will not feel bored by the speed of the movie. However, get prepared to expect predictable story plot and B-grade special effects. Though say that, it is still quite a watchable show.

My New 手機 LG Viewty KU990R

My old mobile phone Sony Ericsson K770i is going history as the keypad is having problem. As a replacement phone for my 2nd line, I do not want to spend too much money and hope to get a value for money phone. Here comes LG Viewty KU990R! Singtel online store is selling for only $48! 可说是价廉物美！Best of all, it fits my criteria! At least a 5MP phone, a touchscreen phone and costs less than $100. I bought the white one and it looks really great!

I am a 病貓

I have been sick for the past 4 days. Initially is sore throat, then slowly become flu. Finally, it changes to cough. This cough is really persistent! I have tried eating 琵琶膏 and some cough syrup from pharmacy. But still no use. Until I try Woods cough syrup, my cough lessen a bit. Finally, I tried a 神奇 cough mixture, I am cured after drinking 2 times! But until now I dun dare to anyhow eat things. I think I will try to eat lightly for another 2 weeks. 呵呵﹗

Glass "Exploded"! 恐怖經驗

I ordered a cup of 茶烏 and a bowl of 魚粥 for my lunch at a coffee shop. While eating halfway, the cup of 茶烏 suddenly "exploded" in front of me!! I was shocked and my trousers is drenched with 茶烏﹗The shattered glass flew around and some landed in my 魚粥﹗The coffee shop owner quickly comes and picks up the glass. The waiter cleans the table and mops the floor. Then, I was offered a new bowl of 魚粥 but they did not offered me a new cup of 茶烏。But I still 心有餘悸。So even they offered me a new cup of 茶烏, I dunno if I dare to drink. But 不幸中的大幸﹐I was not hurt. 謝天謝地﹗

IT Show: 空手而歸

IT Show 2009 is here again. As usual, I always like to go on the last day to take a look. I have nothing in mind this time round. I just company my girlfriend to buy her laptop. She is eyeing on Asus. As compared to previous computer fair, this time round I find there are more people. Maybe due to recession, more people come to fair to 撿便宜貨。I wanted to see the latest Asus 24" LCD monitor. Guess what? The sales person told me all Asus LCD monitors are sold out on the first day of the show. 簡直是瘋狂﹗In the end, I went home empty handed. Haha. I guess I have to wait till June.

MOF 甜品

I have been walking past many MOF restaurants but always did not get a chance to go in and eat. Finally, I got a chance to venture into this is a Japanese restaurant which their specialty is in ice cream. There are many 口味 but I prefer their sesame ice cream. Mocha 綠茶 flavour is also
nice.

K Box: 卡拉永遠OK

I have not been to karaoke for a long time. My friend suddenly 心血來潮 asked me to k 歌﹗We went to K Box which is one of the big players locally. But the price is forever expensive. We sang about 4 hours, 2 drinks each and unlimited refilled of nuts. This costs us about $32 per person! Since it is once in a blue moon, so I still can accept.

Dinner & Dance 沒有多收穫

This year my company dinner & dance I brought home less things compared to last year. Last year, I managed to win 2 awards. 1 is personal and another is group award for my performance in company. Then I won a Samsung mp3 player in lucky draw. But this year, I only managed to win a group award. 最遺憾 is I did not win any lucky draw! This year 獎品 very 豐富﹗Got iPhone, iPod Nano, iTouch, Netbook, 37" Lcd TV, PSP, etc.. Hope to be luckier next year!
