Curse Of The Golden Flower

Today I went to watch Curse Of The Golden Flower (Man Cheng Jin Dai Huang Jin Jia). This show is a very typical Zhang Yi Mou's movie. It is very grand and colourful. I like Gong Li in this show. Her acting is good and natural. Chow Yun Fatt is also good as the king. Jay Chou's performance in this movie still not too bad. There are some fighting moves and I feel quite nicely done. However, the story I feel nothing much. Still I quite like the ending where Jay fights till the end in the name of filial. It touches my heart.

Death Note 2 The Last Name

I just went to watch this movie. It is the concluding story of the anime Death Note. I heard it follows quite closely to the original story. But to make it easier for non-readers and fans, they include some new characters and the story change a bit. But the ending should be about the same as the anime. Overall, I quite like it. Very exciting!! Until the last minute, you still will not know what will happen. One of a better flim in the market lately.

COE analysis December 2nd round

This round COE tumbled quite a lot. Cat A down $2,595 to $9,605 and Cat B lowered $1,500 to $12,889. Market watchers said that the demand is still weak and show room is still very quiet. This might be due to school holiday where many people are aboard. Although CAt A COE has breached the $10k barrier, insiders feel that it will not sparked a buying frenzy unlike the previous sub-$10k COE period. The first reason might be that the next 2 weeks has many holidays and less time to collect orders. Another reason is that there are not much good car deals lately. So expect to see a stable or lesser COE next round.

Rain

It has been raining non stop for about 2 days. It has brought a lot of inconvenience to a lot of people. Flooded in many areas, clothes not dry for days, cannot exercise etc... But I love this kind of weather. Rain a lot. I like the cold weather and love to see rain. Dunno why. Whenever I see rain, I feel calm. It is expected to last till friday. Enjoy it while I can.

Shin Kushiya

Yesterday I went to VivoCity for dinner. This is because a friend wanted to treat me cos suddenly this friend feels rich. Haha! So we decided to eat at Shin Kushiya which is BBQ Japanese food. The food is not bad and the service is good! The waitresses are all very young and attentive. Worth a visit. Heh heh!

Busy

These 2 days I really very busy. Never be so busy in my life! This is because now there is a fyp student attached to me and I need to guide him. At the same time, I need to do my work. No time to idle at all! Ha! I am now clearing my leaves but still need to work. Sian!

COE analysis December 1st round

The first round of December COE bidding sees a dropped in the premium. However, the drop is quite little indicating a stable demand. Cat A now $12,200 which down $489. Cat B slides $120 to 14,389. According to insiders, the release of news on the rise of GST has not much impact yet. Now the show room is quite empty. This is explained as Singaporeans are now going overseas due to school holidays. They only expect the crowds to return in next month where Chinese New Year is nearer.

Ikea

Today I went to Ikea at Tampines. At first I tot should be quite empty since it is a working weekdays but no! I was so wrong. There are so many people!!! I wonder how come they so idle? Haha! But I think it is less crowded than on weekend as there are still many parking lots available. The branch is actually the same as in Alexander one. The concept is about the same. Nothing much except is is more spacious. But plus points are more parking lots and best of all it is free!!! Also got a good loading and unloading bay for customers. In the end, I bought some a rack and a mini side table.

Johor Bahru

I just came back from Malaysia. I went to Johor Bahru with a few friends. We crossed over for seafood. This place is a 10 mins drive from the Malaysia check point. Just directly opposite is Senoko Power. This place is called "The Zon" and is beside the Eden Hotel. I feel this place not bad. The shopping is great! The departmental store inside got so many incredible sales but I did not buy anything cos I was not prepared to shop. Heh heh. I think can come over more often. Maybe when GST up to 7% and it will make more sense to shop there.

Sitex

I bought a few good things at Sitex today though I did not personally went down to Expo. I asked my cousin and brother to get something from me. The memory is very cheap! I got a San Disk 1G SD Card for $31.50, Kingston 2G mini SD card for $44 and Toshiba 2G thumb drive for $51. Not bad!

Casino Royale

I just came back watching this movie. I feel this bond movie is the most non-bond like movie. The male lead not very bond, story not very bond, gadgets not very bond. Haha. But I heard this is supposed to be the first bond story. So maybe this is the ACTUAL bond. But i just dun really like it after watching so many bond movies. However, the show is still quite ok lah. Got actions. Not too bad. But got certain parts really very boring.

Birthday present

It is very interesting indeed to know that my first few birthday presents are not from friends but from the companies I have "dealings" with. The first is a post card sent to me from the Malacca Aldy's Hotel I have stayed early this year. They offered me 50% off the published rate if I were to go back. Second gift is from Maybank to let me redeem points for items that are 50% off published rate. Third is from Singtel which gave me a marker pen, a set of stickers and some vouchers. Not bad for a customer!

COE analysis November 2nd round

COE prices for big cars went up and small cars have gone down. The COE for cars below 1,600ccs (Category A) is $12,689, down by $290. But for big cars (Category B), COE prices rose by some $700 to $14,509. This is still within expectation considering the 3 weeks break. But a recent announcement might push up the COE price in the near future. It is the talk about raising the GST to 7%. Car price is very much affected. So those sitting on the fence might now rush in to beat the rise in GST though dunno when is the rise date. So we have to see the rise in GST news have any major impact or not.

R & R

I just came back from a 4D3N holiday trip to Bangkok. It is actually quite a last minute decision. We took budget airline Jet Star. The flight is ok but the seat very cramp. The new Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is quite big and spacious. It is really a threat to Singapore Changi Airport. This whole trip is more like a shopping trip as my friends they all shop from day till night! I walked until leg going to break! Overall, quite fun but weather very hot.

Healthy lifestyle

For the past few weeks, I have been leading a healthy lifestyle. Haha! I jogged at night about twice a week. In the morning, I went to do some morning exercise before going to work. Then, once a week, I will play tennis. I have to force myself to do such small little exercise to cut down on my weight! Sob sob!! But I like it. I think now got some improvement. I am going to keep up the good work!

Community work

Today I went to a community hospital to do some community work by putting up a violin performance to the old folks there. Together with other players, we played about 8 songs. In between, there are two students played guzhen and harp! Overall, I am quite satisfied with my performance. Haha! The hospital also give us a terry bear as a token of appreciation!

COE analysis November 1st round

This round COE up quite a lot. This is due to 3 weeks break and also a few newly launched models. Cat A up $2,469 to $12,979. Cat B up $822 to $13,811. This week has the Singapore motor show. Will this further fuel the increase in COE? But I guess a jump of $2k plus will keep some buyers at bay for the time being. So the rise might be short live.

Photo-me kiosk cheater

Today I went to take a instant photos at those kiosk in NTU. It costs $6 for 4 photos. I inserted a total of $7 notes and guess what? The machine did not return me $1. Big time cheater! I wonder how many people in NTU has been cheated by Photo-me in NTU canteen B. So next time remember to give exact amount regardless what vending machines. I hope that machine rot!

Sinking of Japan

I just came back from watching Sinking of Japan. The verdict: I love it! The special effects I feel not bad. Some parts are comparable to Hollywood standard. There are also many parts that are heartwarming and touching. The song are every nice too! Overall, I feel quite nice.

Youtube

Today I a bit bored so I decided to try out what Youtube is all about. I shoot some videos and uploaded into Youtube. It is quite easy and fun! Finally got some fun thing to do for the next few days. Haha!

A Good Year

Just came back from watching this show. This show is set to open on 9th Nov. But I got lucky by redeeming free tickets for this show by Citibank. It is quite a slow movie story but I quite like the plot. A bit funny. Good acting by Russell Crowe and the others.

Death Note

Today I was on leave and went to settle some personal affairs. In the afternoon, I suddenly feel like watching a movie as I so long never watch movie liao. So I went to Singapore largest shopping mall- VivoCity again to watch a show. I decided to catch the Japanese movie Death Note as there are no other movies that catch my attention. This movie is adapted from a comic book. Although I never watch the comic before, I can follow the story quite well. I feel this movie is quite nice. Interesting plot and exciting. It is a battle of wits between the two lead casts. Part 2 will be out in Dec and only then the whole truth will be revealed!

Sunday, October 22, 2006

Durians

Today I went out with my colleagues to Geylang to eat durians. This time we bring two guests from Germany to try out the durians. Haha. They said they must try this fruit. Before they taste it, I ask them how many they intend to eat. They said maybe 5. But who knows they only managed 2 as they cannot stand the smell and taste. Typical ang mohs. Any way, now is not the durian season and it is very expensive! 1kg costs $13!! So better to go during durian seasons.

Saturday, October 21, 2006

Calvin Klein

I always wanted to buy Calvin Klein inner wear but feel it is too expensive. But today I bought 2 things by Calvin Klein in OG cos they have 50% discount. Heh heh. The first one is a crew neck muscle shirt made of microfiber. Its material is quite good to touch. I never own such a material before so I decide to get it. Another is tank top made of cotton. Cutting wise I feel quite good. Overall, I feel quite a good buy.

Thursday, October 19, 2006

COE analysis October 2nd round

This round COE performance is not uniform. Cat A down by $1,491 to $10,510. Cat B up $488 to $12,989. It is said that due to the release of new Camry, Cat B COE found a reason to rise instead. But overall market still slow. Next week is a 3 week break and so from the usual pattern, next round COE will rise a bit. But long term outlook is COE price is pointing south.

Ban Heng

Today my boss decided to play host and gave a treat to the two overseas students. I joined in the fun. We went to Ban Heng restaurant at Jurong Country Club behind Science Center. We ordered some soup, prawns, vergetables and meats. 6 of us ate for about $200. I feel it is quite ok as the food are nice and the service are good.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

Silver Shell Cafe

Today I went to pick up a pair of overseas students at the airport with their supervisor. Then, this supervisor invited me for a dinner. Actually, I dun feel like going but if dun go like dun give face. So end up we went to Sentosa for dinner as this supervisor likes to act high class. We drove into Sentosa and he offered to pay for the entrance fee. 1 car + 4 people should be $10. But I got Maybank credit card and got free entrance. So end up $8. Then, we proceed to Silver Shell Cafe in Rasa Sentosa Hotel. It is BBQ western food. I ordered pork chop. Food wise is not bad and ambience is good cos got a live band performing in front of you while you eat. 4 of us ate about $240 after a 20% discount using a UOB credit card.

Burberry

Today I went to shopping again at VivoCity. Two reasons why I went shopping at that place. Firstly, today haze get worse and so I decided to go shopping on impulse. Secondly, there is a promotion by Citibank at Tangs for Burberry fragrances. I went down to take a look and the sale gal persuade me to buy. Actually, I already intend to get one lah. Haha. In the end, I bought the perfume and a shower gel for $155. The free gift is a Burberry travel kit and travel bag. So I got a $10 off and 2 lucky draw chances. Ok lah.

Feel cheated

Today I feel cheated! By who you might think. By both my boss and a restaurant. Ahh..... Actually a small matter but I still wish to complain. My boss and I brought a visitor to Tung Lok Restaurant at Arena Country Club for lunch. When we ask for bill, the waitress came about and then recommend to my boss to apply their Tung Lok First dining card as my boss paid the meal by Mastercard. As it is none of my business, so I did not listen much. My boss agreed to apply but ask me to fill my name as he too lazy. Then, I apply loh. Who knows this card needs an application fee of $52.50! My boss then asks me to pay when we back at office as he feels he dun use much. I feel I was cheated!!!!!! I not too happy with him cos I apply this card out of my will. Also the waitress should told us to apply the Tung Lok Visa card instead as it has the same benefit and it is free. So I feel very cheated by them!!!! But the only good thing is that this card is preloaded with $75 worth of Tung Lok cash which you can offset their bill. Also with the 10% rebate we ate just now, I got another $13 Tung Lok cash. But still I am very angry over my boss and that lady.

VivoCity

Today I went to Singapore largest shopping mall - VivoCity. I wanted to take a look what the fuss is all about. The mall gives me a very "Malaysia mall" feel simply because the walk way and shops are very spacious which are like those in Malaysia. Although there are many people, you will not feel crowded or cramp. Many shops are not open yet. Despite like this, I still manage to buy something. Haha! I think I will explore this mall further maybe in December when more shops are opened.

Smoke gets in your eyes

Today the haze getting worst! I just came back from shopping and on the road, I can barely see the building opposite the road. A burning smell is also lingering in the air. If the weather is cooler, you might easily thought that you are walking in London street. From the news, the PSI hit 150! No wonder, it is rather smoky and heaty.

COE analysis October 1st round

Today is the first round of COE bidding with the increase of quota. As I predicted, this time round, both Cat A and B dropped by more than $1k which is my conservative estimation. Cat A down $1,101 to $12,001. Cat B down $1,898 to $12,501. However. I feel this is still not low enough. I predict next round it should slide some more as I feel that it has no basis to rise. So I think the question is not if it will drop but how much it will slide. This will indicate what the current demand for cars is.

Sunday, October 01, 2006

Zoo

Today I went to Zoo with my mum. The last time I visited Zoo is about 1.5 years back. It has some changes over this 1.5 years. It has made the Zoo looks more like park. More greeneries, more seating areas and more viewling galleries. The loactions of the animals remain more or less the same with some minor changes. Overall, the Zoo has done a nice job.

Father's birthday

I just came back from celebrating my father's birthday. As usual, we went out to have a nice dinner. This time we went to Yunnan View Garden restaurant at Fairway Country Club. There is a promotion for their crabs. From 6pm to 9pm, depends on what time you reach there, the crab will be charge at that rate. Like if you are there between 6pm to 7pm, each crab you order costs $6. But it is limited to 4 crabs I think. We ordered 4 crabs and then a set meal. We ate away around $227. Overall, the service and food is quite nice.

Then, we proceed to Chinatown to see the lightings for the lantern festival. We also went to OG to shop a bit cos today is the last day for their sales. Many things are going at quite a good price. In the end, I bought a pair of Lee Cooper shoes for about $57 after a 30% discount. Not bad.

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

Mooncake

I just came back from Junction 8 to purchase mooncakes which I intend to present them as gifts for my godparents. As many people recommended me Raffles The Plaza Hotel's mooncakes, I decided to give it a try. I heard that they set up a booth at Junction 8. So I decided to go there and buy instead of going to City as it is easier to park car in HDB area. After a 25% discount by Singtel promotion, per box costs around $30. Each box has 8 small mooncakes. So I feel the price is quite ok.

Then, I went to Haagen-Dazs to purchase their ice cream mooncakes. The promotion is that they give away 1 premium ice cream mooncake worth $22 if you purchase a box of classic mooncakes which costs $68. They also give away $10 voucher. So overall, ok lah since once a year.

COE analysis September 2nd round

As I said the September COE result is important as it reflects the trend for the future COE price. This time Cat A increases $99 to $13,102. Cat B down $302 to $14,399. It can be seen that both did not pass the $15k mark. So I feel $15k is the resistance line.

As the previous increase is due to the rumour that COE quota will decrease. However, the truth is not. LTA just announced that more COE, 8,520 to be precised, will be released for this quota year. Market reacts to this news by slashing price. Nissan takes the lead by reducing $1k to $4k off the car price.

Current COE price is considered "quite high" and dealers themselves know that buyers are not coming in. So the increase in quota is indeed a good news as most of them see it as an indicator to keep the COE price down. So with COE price down, car price down, buyers naturally comes in. So I predict the next round COE should be down by around $1k.

Marine Parade

I just came back from shopping at Marine Parade area. I had my dinner at the Marine Parade hawker center. There are so many nice food there! My family and I share hokkien mee, chicken rice and nasi lemak. Although there are some local food that can be found anywhere, they are very nicely done!! This explains the crowd.

Forbidden City: Portrait Of An Empress

I just came back from watching the musical Forbidden City: Portrait Of An Empress at the Esplanade. The lead cast is our local talent Kit Chan. I always like to hear Kit Chan sings live as her vocal power I feel is the best in Singapore. The songs and casts are good. Overall, I quite like it. Throughout the 2 hours 15 mins performance, I don't feel bored. I even bought the program booklet and soundtrack for $22. Heh heh. The only complain I have is that I could not get the best seats I wanted and settle for the 2nd best. Also during the 15mins break, no announcement is made and only has M1 reception in the theatre.

Bowling competition

Yesterday my company organised a bowling competition and the result is out today. I group up with my boss and another guy to form a team. I was thinking maybe can be better than the previous game in terms of ranking. But guess what? We performed badly! In the previous game back in March, we were number 5 out of 21 teams. But this time round, we dropped to number 10 out of 20 teams! In terms of men overall, I came in number 19. A drop of 6 notches! My three games scores are 123, 118 and 111. A drop of 15 points. Must buck up for next competition.

Pulau Ubin

Today I went to Pulau Ubin with my family and relatives. It has been a long time since my last visit there. It changes a lot. Now a new and nice pier is built. There are policeman manning the pier now and with a mama shop and also a restaurant. The bumper boat still stays. Although it is a Sunday, there are no many people. On our way back, we need to pass through a metal detector gate and have our bag x-ray just like at the aiport! I feel it is quite amusing but well, during this period, it pays to be more careful.

Saturday, September 09, 2006

Guo Fu steamboat

I just came back from a dinner at Guo Fu. You must be wondering where is this place. It is recommended by a friend from China. He brought us to this place. It is located along a shop house besides China Square Central. It is very chinese style of food. The food is not bad and the sauces are quite nice too. 4 of us ate around $140 which is ok for buffet style. Now very full!

Friday, September 08, 2006

McCafe

I just came back from supper at McCafe off West Coast park. My friend and I happily ordered 2 cups of mocha anc chesse cakes. Guess what? We then realised we are out of cash! No ezylink card too! At that time, we really panic! Lucky I dig into my wallet and found a ang bao containing some money! Or else I think we will die of embarrassment!

Thursday, September 07, 2006

COE analysis September 1st round

This round of COE has again rise. But the rising amount has slowed down. Cat A has only up a mere $14 to $13,003. Cat B still further up a bit more to $14,701 by $811. My prediction is that $15k COE price cannot be substained for long. Maybe it will rise to that amount by next round due to quota review uncertainty and new models released. I feel it should down to $10k level by end of this year or early next year.

Saturday, September 02, 2006

Mellben Seafood

Today my bro-in-law wants to treat us to a seafood dinner. He recommended a place called Mellben Seafood. It is located at a coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio. When we reached there by around 5.45pm, the queue is really crazy!! Very long! But lucky we made a reservation. But you need to order the food in one shot or else you have to re-queue for the food. We waited around 10 mins before the food is served. So quite ok. Their signature dish is bee hoon crab soup. It is really very tasty. Their chilli crab is also quite nice. Overall, not bad but I feel a bit expensive. I think the meal cost around $260.

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

Bowling

Today I was overwhelmed by a sudden impulse to go bowling. So I decided to go to the bowling center in the civil service club for a couple of games as they have an August promotion where per game is only $2.60. I invited my mum along and two of us any how throw the ball into the lane. My average score is 120 per game while my mum got around 90. Not bad for starter. Heh heh.

Sunday, August 27, 2006

Science Center

Today I went to Science Center with my parents. It has been a long time since our last visit there. I heard that now Science Center has changed a lot so I decided to bring my parents there. At first, I tot nobody goes Science Center. But I was wrong! There are many people. The entrance fee is $6 for adult and I got 10% discount using Safra card.

Science Center is really big and consists of 2 levels. We reached there around 1pm and I feel it is really a bit late. We walked for 5 hours until it closed at 6pm but many things we only see it briefly. I think it should take 1 whole day (or more) if you want to try all the experiments and read the descriptions carefully. Any way, I feel it is really a fun and good learning trip today. Maybe I will go down again soon.

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Crystal Jade Jiang Nan

Today I went with a friend to try out Crystal Jade Jiang Nan Restaurant cos we have a $30 voucher redeem using the Starhub points. This restaurant is located in Ngee Ann City at a small corner. It is quite a middle up class restaurant. From the design to the staffs, it is very Chinese. At a time, I thought I am in China. We ordered some China style food. It is very nice! The service is not bad also. Staffs are quite attentive and friendly. Overall, we ate around $53 after using the voucher.

Thursday, August 24, 2006

COE analysis August 2nd round

This round COE shot up again and closed quite high in recent history. Cat A up $1,088 to $12,989. Cat B up $1,389 to $13,890. The reasons threw in the market for the increase are that many new models are released and also the dealers are afraid that the COE quota for next 6 months will down. So they are rushing to secure the COE as much as possible by this round. It is uncertain if the COE quota will reduce or not. If LTA reduces the quota, this will further push up the COE price and in turn the car prices. But market overall believes that this might not happen. Market leader Toyota feels that LTA has no basis to cut the quota as the number of cars scrap this year are still very high. So who is right and who is wrong? Only time will tell. Next round is the one to be take note of to see how the trend goes for the next 6 months.

Seventh month dinner

Once a year, I will attend the Seventh month dinner organised by the committee members in my neighbourhood. I always like to attend because it is a rather unique thing in Singapore. Sitting and eating with some stangers plus witnessing the bidding and singing are some things you dun get to do everyday. Haha! The food is usually quite nice and got free flow of drinks. This year a bit special is my brother actually bidded for something. He bidded for a bicycle and he got it. But I say my bicycle is still better. Haha! Any way, businessman likes to bid something for good luck. So I hope he has many luck in return.

Sunday, August 20, 2006

Dancing Diva

I just bought Jolin's CD+DVD version of her latest album, Wu Niang (Dancing Diva). I feel this album is quite nice. She dances quite well too! Feminine and girly. Haha. I think many guys like to have her as girlfriend (but not wife). Any way, she got a lot of different make over in her music video. Overall, quite a good album.

Saturday, August 19, 2006

Imperial Treasure Teochew

In order to celebrate my passing of PhD, I treat my family for a dinner. After looking at a few reviews, we decided to go Imperial Treasure Teochew Restaurant at Suntec City. Its concept is very similar to Crystal Jade Restaurant. I heard that it is set up by Crystal Jade former managing director. Any way, we order a set menu for 8. I feel that the food is quite nice. Service also quite good. But one thing I feel a bit not good is the speed of the food served. It is too fast! Haha. Initally, you need to wait for a while. But once the first dish come, it is unstopable and you sort of have to eat a bit faster. But overall, good. We ate about $370 for 7 adults and 2 children.

Saturday, August 12, 2006

Equinox

I just came back from a dinner at Equinox Restaurant. It is located at the tallest hotel in Singapore and South East Asia. Yes, it is at 70th floor of Swissotel The Stamford. The food I feel is quite nice. Portion wise is not too big but with rice and bread, I am very full. The view is very nice too! You can see the whole central business district and town areas. Guess what? Tonight got fire works! So it is actually a good experience! The bills come up to around $212 after a 15% discount using Amex credit card.

COE analysis August 1st round

As I predicted, expect COE to go up. This round COE did shoot up quite an amount. Cat A up $1,098 to $11,901. Cat B up $1,901 to $12,501. This round of increament is fuelled by 3 reasons. First is the usual three weeks break. Second is the recent new models introduced into the market. Third is the fear of COE quota reduction in September quota review month. So expect the price to go steady or up a bit for the next few rounds. But according to newspaper, a cut in COE quota is unlikely. Hence, be patient and you will be rewarded by end of the year. Haha.

Dragon Tiger Gate

I just came back from watch the movie, Long Hu Men (Dragon Tiger Gate). It is based on a comic book. I feel the show is not bad. The story flow is quite good and fighting scenes are good. Special effects not too bad lah but not the tip top type. But I dun like the ending. It is different from my expectation. Any way, I feel overall it is worth to consider watching.

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

Doctor of Philosophy

After weeks of preparation, today I did my oral presentation for my PhD study. I have many sleepless nights just to prepare for this big day. This is after many rounds of refining my speeches and slides with the help by my boss. Any way, I think I am lucky because the examiners did not ask too diffcult questions. After 5 years of hardwork, I finally got my "Harry Potter" hat. Heh heh!!

Birthday

Today is my brother's birthday and we decided to eat out to celebrate his birthday. We settle down at a coffee shop in Bukit Timah just besides Hyundai show room. That is the first time I went to that area for dinner. We ordered fish, chicken and some vegetables. The food i not bad. After that, we drove to Holland Road Jelita shopping mall. It is a small shopping area and I think it caters for the rich. Cos inside the mall, the things are more "ang moh" friendly. Haha! Well, it is normal since it is located at one of the prime spots.

Orchard Road

Today I went to Orchard Road with my family. I like long time did not visit this place liao. Still the same. Very crowded. We first went to Borders to look at books. Then, we walked to a food court in Scotts shopping mall. After that, we wandered over to Tangs to shop shop. Later, we strolled down to Lucky Plaza where we bought some clothes at Bossini. In a few moments, we crossed over to Ngee Ann City and landed in Takashimaya 10th Craziest Toys Sale 2006. There are so many cheap toys! In the end, we bought a few good things. Finally, we had our dinner at Ajisen for ramen. Finally, it is home sweet home. Time flies when you are relaxing.

COE analysis July 2nd round

COE results out. Cat A this time round edges upwards by $602 to give $10,803. Cat B as usual posted $10,600 which down $201. The demand is still weak but still got enough buyers around to stablise the COE price. Next round is the three weeks break again. So expect COE to go up.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Just came back from watching Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Not bad. Quite exciting. I feel it is better than the first episode where this time got more actions and monsters. In it, they actually mentioned Singapore. I think Holloywood like to mention Singapore. Haha. Any way, this show ends by paving way for third episode. Should be out soon.

Hyundai Sonata

Today, my brother's new car arrived. So we whole family go with him to collect his new Hyundai Sonata. The first impression I had when I see this car is:"It looks big." I get the confirmation answer when I sat inside. The leg room is fantastic and very comfortable. The most impressive feature is the engine. It is very refined and when idling, it is extremely quiet! I heard that Sonata is not selling well. I would say it is too bad. But as far as we are concern, it is a great news cos that means less people driving the same car as you. More exclusive. Heh heh.

White hairs

Recently, some people told me I have lesser white hairs. My colleague told me that first. Then, I went to cut hair and my hairstylist also tells me that. They wonder if I ate anything lately. Haha! The only things I ate recently that I never ate last time are strawberry and cod liver oil. So those who got white hairs, maybe you can trying eating those. Heh heh.

Good news

Today I got 2 pieces of good news to share. The first is that my friend's wife just give birth to a baby boy. Congrates to them. The 2nd piece of good news is someone I dislike has left the company. He is sort of attached here. Any way, my boss and I give him a farewell at the Blue Ginger restaurant at Tanjong Pagar. It is a peranakan cuisine. 3 of us ate around $78 after 15% discount using UOB card. The food is not bad and can go next time.

World Cup 2006 finals

In a few more hours will be World Cup 2006 show down: Italy vs France. I dun watched any World Cup live matches but only follow through the news. So far I dun have any favourite team. Also I dun know the history and facts of any footballers or clubs. But based on my gut feeling, I feel that Italy will win. Dun ask me why. The truth is out there!

COE analysis July 1st round

As predicted, Cat A rises. This time round it posted $ 10,201 which up $900. As seen in last 2 weeks, the price of Cat A cars are historical low in recent years. This will some how boost those who want to get cars to get into action. But it can be seen that it only rises $900 means that demand is not too strong so dealers do not dare to bit high. Over at the Cat B, this time round it lowers $200 to $ 10,801. As usual, no new models in the market to generate any buzz. A quick check with Toyota shows that Cat A cars rise $500. This shows that the last time round they managed to get some orders that will tide them for a few rounds. Cat B more or less no change. I feel next round Cat A will stable and Cat B might slide further.

Financial check

Today I read a piece of article said that a lot of people are not financial healthy. They spent a lot of money to buy house and car. They look good on the outside but actually they are rotting inside. So they provide some tips and advice to check if your financial is healthy or not. Firstly, never loan more than 15 years for housing loan. Reason is loan 20 - 30 years, you are as good as "giving" money to bank. So try to calculate to buy a house that you can pay off in 10 years time.

Next, a lot of people love to buy cars. The bigger the better. So people will envy them etc... Try to pay off everything within 5 years is the trick. Anything more than 5 years usually means you are straining yourself with interest.

Lastly, you should have at least 6 times of your monthly gross income sitting in your bank now. If not, you are not ready if suddenly you are out of job. Also your monthly bills + loans should be 35% of your gross income. Anything more means you are danger in in debt and not enough money to retire.

Chery QQ

Yesterday I posted an article on this and said it is widely believe to be less than $30k. Well, it is so wrong. Today newspapers carried an advertisment on this car. Guess what? It is $32,900. After giving $2k discount for early birds, it is still $30,900. Maybe those Chinese living in Singapore might take the bite. But from a local point of view, I feel sales might not be easy to move. But of cos I have not test driven any and also have not seen the interior. So I might be wrong. But solely based on the price, my take is sales is hard to take off at this price. I think Singaporeans mentality is:" I might as well get Kia Picanto which is now $32,999." For a mere $2k more, it is at least tested and proven. How is Chery after sales service etc... is yet unknown. So unless the price difference is greater like $5k or more than current Picanto or Perodua Kelisa, it does not have much incentive to woo people over. So want to owe a car for less than $30k? Keep dreaming.

Cheap car

Singapore cars though is not the world most expensive, we cannot consider it cheap either. So imagine owning a car (exclude off peak car) for a price tag of less than $30k is almost impossible. But I think this is not any more. China made cars will make its grand entrance to Singapore market in July. The first to arrive is Chery QQ, a 800 cc car. This car is a runaway success when it is first launched in China. The price is not yet available but is widely believe to be less than $30k including today COE. If this is the case, it might generate some buying interest. But many might feel wary about China made car. I feel give them time just like the once upon a time the lousy Japanese and Korean cars.

Wall fan

Today I bought a fan that can be mounted onto the wall with remote control function. This is because I feel that my room is getting more and more crowded. So the only way to release more walking space is to mount things on wall and remove things standing on the floor. That is why I got a wall fan. It is a local brand called Sona and cost $79 from Courts at Bukit Timah. The sales guy said it is quite value for money. That is why i got it. So far so good. The built is quite good and functions got what I need. Hope it dun quit on me. Heh heh.

Great Singapore Sale

I just came back from shopping at Causeway Point. Not bad, I bought quite a number of things which are long over due. There are many things I need to get but I always drag on. Like new long sleeve shirts for working (now only got 3 rotating everyday), socks (most got holes liao) and sleeping singlets (now most are torn) etc... The best part of shopping is to find something you need and like. I think I spend about $190 at Metro, John Little and Samuel & Kelvin.

COE analysis June 2nd round

Latest COE results out. Quite surprisingly is both Cat A and B drop over $1k. Cat A now $9,301. Down $1,901. Cat B is $11,001. Slide $1,199. During the last round, dealers slash car prices up to $2k. However, this does not attract many people to enter the market. A quick check with Toyota and Nissan shows that they further reduce car price by $2k. Now car price is really attractive! So I guess next round will up for at least Cat A cos it is not a common scene to have a COE for less than $10k. But I guess the new base line will be $9k in near future. Now people is so used to seeing $10k COE. So anything more than $10k is considered a lot. I feel a sub-$10k COE is coming real soon!

Office chair

Today I bought an office chair to replace my current one at home which lasted more than 5 years. I got it at vhive for $345. Now sitting on it, I have a different feeling altogether when I first tested it at the shop. I feel it is higher now and more stiff. Maybe it is a new chair like my friend say. Any way, feel like an emperor now. Haha!!

Another round of food

I just came back from eating (again)! This month I think I ate a lot and getting rounder everyday at this rate. Any way, today a visiting professor brought us to Brazil Churrascaria which is a Brazilian restaurant along sixth ave. It is sort of "buffet" style where the waiters will bring the meat to you once in a while. A lot of pork, chicken, beef and mutton will shove into your face! Eat until you puke! They also drink a lot of beer and wine. I am not a wine lover so I drink orange juice instead. Haha! 8 of us ate $900! The professor paid this time. Heh heh.

Father's day

Today is father's day and we all went out to eat (as usual) to celebrate this day. We went to Yan Palace at my brother's country club. I think we were there pretty late. Almost 2pm then we reached. We have tim sum for lunch. After a member discount, 5 of us ate around $65. The service and food are quite nice. Quite full! Yum!

Friday, June 16, 2006

Holland Village

Today my company people went out for a dinner. We went to eat at a German restaurant at Holland Village. It is called Baden. We drink some German beer and eat German food. Some ate German sauages and some ate their famous pork knuckles. Then, we sit there watched world cup. The food is not too bad and the waitress is quite pretty. 6 of us ate around $277. I think it is quite a nice place and worth checking it out again.

Important date

I have just received an email from my school telling me to set a date for my PhD oral defence. Guess what? I have to go and settle the appointment with my examiners. I am thinking it should be the school doing such coordination rather than me doing it. Any way, now cracking my head to juggle between my work and preparing this presentation. Hope I can do a nice one.

Mother's birthday

Today I went to celebrate my mum's birthday which is around few days later. My family and I went to Dragon Phoenix Restaurant in Liang Court for dinner. Guess what? There is a wedding at this restaurant. So imagine it looks funny when we turn up in sandals and bermudas. Haha! But any way, the waitress led us into a room. The portion of food is quite large and taste quite ok. But the tea is almost tasteless. The set meal we ordered thrown in a free peking duck. So overall, not too bad. I think it cost around $415 for 7 adults and 2 children. After the meal, we were quickly led to the side door as the wedding is still in process. Haha!

COE analysis June 1st round

In my last posting, I predicted that COE price should stay about the same or slide. I was wrong cos I forget to take into consideration of the three weeks break. Last round till this round has a three weeks interval instead of the usual two. From the past experience, three weeks break usually will see a substantial rise in COE price. Cat A this round see a large jump posted at $11,202 which is a jump of $1,102. Cat B on the other hand sees a smaller increase to $12,200 which up $399. So does this mean it is end of low COE? My answer is no. According to newspaper, the jump is fuelled by the increasing competition among car dealers by offering attractive packages. Also dun forget the three weeks break condition. A quick check with toyota price list confirms my answer. Cat A COE up about $1k but Toyota dropped its Cat A car price by $1k. Cat B Coe up $399 but Cat B car price dropped $1k! This happens to Nissan too. They even drop $2k to some of their bigger cars! Any way, the situation would be clearer when the next round revert back to two weeks break.

X-Men: The Last Stand

Today I went to watch X-Men: The Last Stand. Ok, it is very exciting compared to the previous 2 X-Men movies. The special effects this time is a lot more grander. But I dun really like the story line. Also it features a lot of mutants but under developed them which is a shame. This time I would say the mutants are more well balanced. Storm this time does not performed any powerful tactic as seen in X2. The more fantastic moves are given to Magneto and Jean Grey. Overall, it is a very entertaining movie.

PC Show 2006

I just came back from PC Show at Suntec city. I reached there at around 6.30pm and walked around. It is so crowded! I squeezed my way through and landed in front of a booth selling Kingston storage device. Maybe I feel too excited (due to the low price) or maybe I too lazy to squeeze around, I bought one 512MB mini SD card for $27 and one 1GB SD card for $44 on the spot. Later I walked around some more and found it is even cheaper elsewhere!! I immediately "lost" about $10!! Sob sob!!

Any way, I also bought Maha AAA/AA battery charger for $49 (usual is $59). It got rave reviews and only got one sole distributor in Singapore. I have tried to lay my hand on this many times before but the shop is always not open when I am there. I also bought 16 maha 2700mAh AA batteries for $60 (usual $80). It also got rave reviews and said better than Sanyo ones. So overall still on the lucky side I guess. Total gain is $20. Haha!

Low carpark height

Today I drove my brother's van out to town. I suppose to park at Shaw Tower. But this weekend got PC show and Shaw Tower is full. So I detour to park at some nearby housing estate. There is a basement carpark but initately I dun want to get in cos I feel my van is too tall. But I saw a similar van came out so I thought it is safe. Who knows it is not! The top of the van is dented and looks pretty bad. Tough luck! Have to be more careful next time.

Siam food

Today I got a vistor from Germany. My boss insisted that I should go with him to acompany this guy for dinner. So he dragged me along to Jurong Point. Together with us is another student from Russia. At there, we ate at Siam Kitchen. We ordered the set meal that has tom yum soup, black olive rice, vegetables etc... The food is nice and not so spicy. But not to the ang mohs. They really cannot take chili which I feel there is really none. Any way, we ate for around $100 for 4 people and my boss picks up the tab. Heh heh.

Public phone

All along I feel Singapore is very efficient and convenient in many areas until today. The public phones problem in Singapore is really bad! Today I went out with a friend and he needs to go off for a while. Then, I realised my handphone is flat and so I want to look for a public phone to call him. But what the hell?! I cannot find one in sight! Terrible! After walking for a while around the neighbourhood, finally found 3 public phones cluster together. But what the hell x 2?! None of them is a coin operated phone! So I run to nearby 7-eleven to purchase a phone card. But what the hell x 3?! The sales person asked me:"You want a Singtel one or Starhub one?" I say:"What is the diff?" She said:"Singtel one can only use on Singtel phone. Starhub one can only use on Starhub phone." What happen to the old one-for-all phone card? In the end, I bought the Starhub one cos it looks nicer and cheaper (starts at $5 value as compared to Singtel $10). I am wondering if I happen to be a tourist, I will be a dead meat.

One North NTU Alumni Club

Today NTU Alumni club at One North opens its door. I was invited to have a tour around the compound. Overall, ok only. I feel it should be better. Firstly, the car park. It is way too small and crowded!! Only 90 free lots for members and arond 100 lots for visitors. But maybe they want to discourage people from driving?

Next is the lift. No number indicating if the lift is on which floor. So how you expect people to know should wait for how long? Movement of lift also very slow. Maybe they want to encourage people walking stairs to keep fit?

Third, the gym. Not many equipments but quite spacious. I think they should put in more equipments or else space is wasted.

I feel a bit not to my expectation. 9 level high but a bit lacking in facilities. I wonder what happen to the spaces. In fact, I feel the Civil Service Club is better. However, it is not yet fully done. I think it will only be up and running by July. I hope I will change my views by then. Haha!

The Da Vinci Code

I just came back watching The Da Vinci Code. I feel it is quite a nice show maybe because I never read the book before. I just did some online research on what this story is about. Hence, I can catch the plot. My friend, on the other hand, cannot catch the story went on sleeping throughout the show! Any way, the locations and sites in the movie are very beautiful! It makes me feel like going there. One of the casts, Ian McKellen, did a good job. The rest are ok which I feel a bit restricted maybe due to the character. The lead female should be doing more work I feel since she is expert in decoding. Overall, it is exciting. PS: I love the way French speaks.

Presentation

Today I got a presentation. Together with my boss, we have to present our research work to the whole company. At first, I thought nobody turn up but who knows today quite a lot of people turn up. Any way, the presentation turned out quite well. At first, I was very nervous. But after 5 minutes of presenting, my heart really stop beating liao. Haha. Then, I really very relax and maybe this is why I can present better cos I not that nervous. I got quite a positive feedback from my colleagues and boss. Ok lah. At least I did not disgrace my boss. Heh heh.

Secondary school teacher passed away

Today when I first step into office, a friend of mine who happened to be in the same secondary school as I was told me a bad news. Our secondary school teacher, Mr Wong Kiow, has just passed away. I was quite shocked as he is only 62 and I have seen him about a year ago. He looks very healthy to me though I dunno what causes his departure. He taught me Maths when I was in Secondary 2. He looks fierce but he is quite a good teacher. Farewell Mr Wong.

Medical checkup

Today my company organised a free simple medical checkup. The test consists of

1. high blood pressure test
2. body mass index
3. fat content
4. diabetes and some others

My result is ok but BMI slightly high and I think I dun drink enough water! Ah!!! Must exercise liao and drink 8 cups of water everyday!!!

Hong Kong supper

I just came back from supper. Recently, Hong Kong style cafes have taken Singapore by storm. So my friend and I decided to check out one that is quite popular. It is located along East Coast Road opposite Caltex petrol station. We reached there around 12.45am and there are many people. But still got many seats available. The cafe has a wide variety of food! From rice to noodle to bread to dessert. But on the whole, it is not cheap. We ordered 2 thick toasts and 2 cups of "yuan yang" which total around $12. The toast is not bad but I dun really like the "yuan yang" as it tastes a bit bitter. Must try other things next time.

COE analysis May 2nd round

In my last prediction, I said COE might up a bit. Indeed, this round COE is really up "a bit". Cat A this round posted $10,100 which up $97. Cat B is $11,801, rising $282. Last week, newspaper reported "the crowd" is back after COE fell sharply. So I thought this round COE might rebound at least a $500 but no. A quick check with Toyota and Nissan for their latest car price shows that there are no changes. So this might shows that they have enough order to keep them going. But looking at the amount it rises, it could only shows how much "the crowd" is.

Any way, I always feel that how can the demand for new cars keep growing? Singaporeans is not that rich one. Most are just average Joe earning $4k-5k (or less) on the average. With this amount of money, it is unlikely for them to change cars every three years like it used to be due to the new tax structure and higher interest rate. So unless there is a cut in tax stucture or a slash in pricing or interest rate, I feel the demand is unlikely to rise in near future. So I predict the next round COE will stay about the same as this round or fall some more as it is already seen by this round that a cut in $2000 in car price is still "not good enough" to bring in enough crowd.

Latest model

Today latest COE is out but I will review it tomorrow. I think from time to time I will post some car news that I come across. Like got what latest model coming etc.. I shall start the ball rolling by introducing two compact cars hitting Singapore soon. The first one to be arrived by end of this month is Mitsubishi I. This is a rather compact car that is no larger than 660 cc, producing not more than 64 hp in a body up to 3.4 metres long. It will be available in two variants when the first few cars arrive from later this month onwards. One will be an entry-level 'no-frills' version, while another will have additional specifications like xenon headlamps, intelligent keyless system, and factory-fitted MP3 player and 15-inch alloy wheels. The estimated price is from $55,000 with COE. My feeling is it is hard to take off (I might be wrong) cos with that price you can get a bigger car.

The second compact car to hit our shore is by Naza. You might be wondering what brand is that? Naza is Malaysia's third automaker after Proton and Perodua. Its Naza Sutera will be landing here in August. According to news that the five-door hatchback's design concept and body were styled by Italy's legendary Pininfarina, with the ride and handling developed by Proton-owned sports carmaker Lotus. It will have a Suzuki engine and Japanese technology that will be assembled in China. So expect the price of this 1.1 litre car to be around $35k with COE. My feel is it will be attractive especially as a off-peak car.

Bicycle

Today, I went to buy a mountain bike. I all along wanted to buy a bicycle but just that no time to go and nobody knows about bicycle to go with me. Finally, I found someone who has some knowledge on bicycle to company me. I went to a shop in Bukit Panjang opposite Ten Mile Junction. But too bad it is not open. My friend bought his bike from there. So I thought of buying from there as well.

So we decided to go to a shop near my house. After looking around for a while and recommendation from my friend and the shopkeeper, I bought a mountain bike for $307. The brand is Hasa which is from Taiwan and the model is T-9. Usual price is $320+ but got special offer and cost $270. The shopkeeper keeps saying very good. So I bought it. Then, I bought a night light for $10, a good bicycle stand for $17 and a water bottle holder for $10. Then, I quickly test ride it just now at the park nearby. Quite fun! Haha. Good for cuttng fat!!

Mission: Impossible III

I just came back from watching Mission: Impossible III. A few of my friends strongly recommended it and go as far as saying it is the best Mission: Impossible movie. Ok, I wun say it is the best but it is not too bad. Tom Cruise still looks good in this show. Story wise this time it is more human cos it involves family. Maggie Q looks nice in the red dress but I think the makeup artistes did not do their work. The baddie also look bad enough. Heh heh. There are also a lot of high tech equipments and some really look so impossible. Overall, it will be a better show if the villian is more powerful who dun die so easily.

Civil Service Club

Today me and a friend went for lunch. At first, we wanted eat at a chinese restaurant in West Mall. But it is such a long queue even though it is around 1.30pm. So suddenly my friend suggested to go to eat in the restaurant in the Civil Service Club in Bukit Batok. I feel it is a good idea cos I also wanted to see see what this club looks like. We went into the club and is greeted by a nice water fall. Cooling! Then, we went to the 2nd floor to the chinese Hilltop Garden restaurant. We had tim sum lunch and order some side dish. Two of us ate around $39. The best part is there is no service charge!!

After lunch, we explored around the club. It has a nice swimming compound! Got a children pool, wave pool, current pool and normal swimming pool. But it is only open to member. The club also boost a gym, bowling alley, karaoke room, seminar room, snooker room etc.... Very good facilities! Some are open to public. Civil servants and staffs from government related companies are able to join this club for $6 per month. Public needs to pay $300 per year!!!! I am quite tempted to join. Maybe will check out with the club soon. Hee!!

Mother's day dinner

Mother's day is next week but we celebrate this week. We went to eat at Tung Lok restaurant at East Coast Park. It is a buffet dinner. Each adult pays about $38+++ and child is $23+++. You can eat a lot of things. Oysters (1 serving and limited to 2 per person), crabs (1 serving), meats, fish, prawns etc... Eat all you want! In the end, 7 adults and 2 children ate about $370. The food not too bad and service wise also not bad. Food is quick to serve. Overall, I will say it is a good choice.

COE analysis May 1st round

Like I say previously, $10k COE is about to come. Indeed. This round we already see the $10k COE for CAT A. Yesterday COE latest results is CAT A $10,003 which down $1898. CAT B is $11,519. Slide $1582. A quick look at the latest pricing of Nissan and Toyota show that they have slashed $2k off the list price. Such a generous slash might generate some buying interest. However, I feel rising interest rate and petrol will still keep people from changing cars unless no choice. Also, currently no new cars to generate buying fever. Indeed, reading newspaper where a car distributor manager said that no one is buying cars. Demand is still very weak. Any way, I feel next round might up a bit due to lowering of price and might create a few backlog. But I still feel a COE of less than $10k is possible.

Malacca

I just came back from Malacca. The trip will be fantastic if not for two bad experiences. The first is in Malacca where got a begger begs us for RM$0.10 saying he wants to call his friend. When I ignored him, he said:"Don't be stingy." I replied:"I no coins!". Even if I have, I also dun want to give him. I rather throw in Malacca river.

Another disgusting event is at the Malaysia check point when we are about to drive out back to Singapore. The police stop us and insisted my friend no wear seat belt and wanted to give us RM$200 summon! Then, he said:"Ok, lah. I "helped" you and you give RM$50 can liao." We dun want any trouble so we paid up and left. Corruption! This incident also got its good points. First is to make my friends and I more appreciate Singapore. Second is to make my friend remember to put on his seat belt! Heh heh. So I decided to boycott Malaysia for the time being. I intend to go Kuala Lumpur this May but I will shelve this idea.

Any way, driving to Malacca is not hard. It is around 210km from Singapore and quite straight forward from Tuas. Just follow the sign board. Just that it is a bit harder when you in Malacca Town. Any way, still quite ok. The charges to use 2nd Link Singapore check point is $3.70. You need to pay when you enter Malaysia and another time when you enter Singapore. The total toll from Johor Bahru to Malacca is around RM$36. Also must pay both time go and come back.

The hotel we stay not bad. A 3 stars award winning Aldy hotel. Service wise I feel still not too bad. The pricing also reasonable. Two nights per room with breakfast is RM$286. It is also situated beside the police station and within walking distance to all the tourist spots. The town is quite small. I took about one morning and finished visiting all the important tourists spot.

Then, we went to the nearby Mahkota Parade shopping mall. Quite big and got many things to buy but not cheap. We bought a few local food items and headed to Chinatown. It has a street called Jonker street where after 6pm, it is closed for traffic and stalls start to set to become a night market. At that street, there are some famous food. The first one is the chicken rice ball, second is the durian chendol but I dun eat durian. My friends said very nice. Third is the nyonya and baba laksa. Yum!!!

Off

Ok, polling is near and so far my side has no news. So a bit boring. Just when I am bored, a consolation price came knocking on my email. As everyone knows that polling will be held on a saturday which is a non-working day. It will be declared as a public holiday. My company policy is to give a day leave to compensate the holiday on a weekend. Hurray!!!

COE analysis April 2nd round

Ok, I decided to start a COE analysis one day after the latest COE price is released. Yesterday, the latest results is out and CAT A is $11,901. Same price as last bidding and CAT B is $13,101. Down $301. This might seems COE price is stablising but looking deeper at the number of bids received, you can see that demand has become slower. A few dealers said market is very weak. A quick check at Toyota latest car price shows that they dropped $1k for smaller cc cars and about $2k or more for bigger cc cars. This shows how the market leader feels about the trend of next round COE. So I feel expect to dive further for the next bidding. Those who wish to buy car can wait for a while. I feel $10k COE is about to come again.

Qing Ming

Today my family and I went to pay our respects to our ancestors. According to chinese custom, tomorrow will be the last day of qing ming festival. We first went to Mandai. Reached around 9.30am. Everything done at around 11am. Lucky we went early. By the time we left, long queue at the main road!

Then, we proceed to Aljunied. Also another massive jam. But we are smart to take another small road where nobody knows. Heh heh. So in the end we avoided the jam. Pray until about 12.30pm, we went for our lunch at Yishun and proceed on to our last destination which is Lim Chu Kang.

However, it rained very heavily on our way there! So we detoured home and waited until 4pm where the rain stopped and then we went to pray. Everything ended at around 6.30pm and it is home sweet home liao.

Bowling result

Today my company bowling committee member email out the results. My team actually not bad leh. We came in 5th out of 21 teams. But a bit wasted!! We only lack 3rd and 4th team by 10 and 9 points respectively. If only my boss did not "strike" his back, I think we will be in top 3! Sob sob. In terms of men overall, I came in number 13. Not even in top 10! Ah...... Never mind. Next year try again.

Swiss delights

I just came back eating cheese fondue at Swiss Culture in Suntec City. This is after I searching highs and lows for my fondue, some kind soul has pointed me to a right direction. Any way, the food serve very slowly. My family and I nearly die of hunger while waiting. Imagine today not many people. I cannot think what will happen if the whole place is packed! The cheese fondue is not quite I expected. A pot of melted cheese and some bread cost about $40! We order some other dishes and overall quite full lah. Food not too bad also. 5 of us eat around $137 after a 15% discount using NTUC card.

K Box

I just came back from singing karaoke at K Box. I long time no sing liao and feel like venting my stress. Finally manage to find a friend to go with me after my cousin decide to support his Liverpool team. We sing from around 5 hours starting from 9pm. Sing a lot Jay Chau's songs cos easy to sing. No need to sing lyric one. Haha! 2 of us cost around $51. Not cheap but ok lah as it is long long one time.

Italian food

Today I saw a promotion on a pamplet that got some place selling cheese fondue. As I never try before, I decided to go and eat today. This place is Spageddies Italian Kitchen at Marina Square. But after reaching there, guess what? Cheese fondue is just a promotion on weekday and it is not on the regular menu! So disappointed!! Any way, my friend and I ordered some food, drinks and dessert. It cost around $62 after a 10% discount using UOB credit card. Food wise is not bad. But too bad, did not get to eat chesse fondue. Have to go and find again.

V for Vendetta

Just came back from watching the movie V for Vendetta with my cousins. Weekend tickets costs me $9.50 but I watched it any way. Reason is that this is the first movie I have watched this year! So let the cinema earn a bit from me loh. Any way, this movie is quite nice though talks a lot and the story plot is quite good. The main actor V did not show his face at all! Until the end when the credit rolls, then I know he is Hugo Weaving! A bit surprising. The fighting scenes are quite nicely done too. However, I feel Natalie Portman a bit nothing leh in the show. She should fight also. Wasted. Over all, quite nice but I think got some parts censored. Typical Singapore.

Oscar

Another boring week has passed and basically nothing interesting has happened. Just that monday I watched the Oscar. Glad that Ang Lee has won the best director. I heard that he is the first non-white to win. But too bad, he lost the best picture award. This year I feel quite boring. The thank you speeches are boring, the presenter speeches are boring and the host speeches are boring with the exception of the opening line regarding actress not enough money to buy clothes that cover their breasts. Other than that. Zzz.....

AXS

I just came back from supper. Ok actually my main motive is not to have supper. Recently I have switched paying my credit card bills from cheques to internet banking to paying thru AXS. Why? Cos they got lucky draw! Haha. The prize is a 1.6L Beetle. Every $50 u spent paying thru AXS, gives you 1 chance and paying at AXS in SPC petrol station double the chance. So I crazy and travel all the way to the nearest SPC to pay my bill. My friend thinks I am crazy but I feel ok what. Nothing to lose. Since you have to pay the bills, might as well use it to win some lucky draw. Hope I win!!!!

I just came back from Tampines Mall shopping. I got a $50 Isetan voucher given by HSBC which will expire today. So I quickly run to Tampines Mall Isetan to spend it. I bought a nike shorts and a addidas t-shirt which total cost around $87. After the $50, I only paid $37. Not bad. Then, I went to Giordano to see see as they put big big says 30% off. But I feel cheated! I saw a pair of jeans and try it. Not bad $49. After wasting my time liao, when paying, the sales gal told me this one no sales as only selected items! I feel it is clearly misleading! But I bought it any way but this will be my last Giordano stuff! I will be boycotting this brand until further notice.

French Village has nothing much. Just a resort. But it is not really very cold like Cameron Highland. In the day, it is around the temperature of Singapore. Only until at night, it goes down to around 20 degree C. At there, I went to a Japanese Tea farm and a rabbit farm. That is all. Stay one night and then travel back. Massive jam at JB custom!!
